Frequently Asked Questions

Flower Preservation is a process by which moisture is removed from the flowers through the use of chemicals. It requires skill and experience in order to properly preserve the color and shape of the flowers. Upon pick up of the bouquet, pictures will be taken in all angles since it will be disassembled during the preservation process. Blooms are individually treated and separated from the stem since different types of flowers require different approaches in preservation. Flower inclusions such as ribbons, pearls, brooch and invitation will be inventoried.
After 3-4 weeks, flowers will be “harvested” and re-assembled to its original floral arrangement and sealed in its customized frame/glass dome.
Different flowers require different amount of time before it can be completely treated. But the average time is about 3-4 weeks with another week allotted for the framing process.
Flower Preservation is not an exact science but its longevity depends on several factors: State and age of the flower when it was preserved, technique used, humidity or sunlight exposure where the flowers were displayed. But generally, preserved bouquet can lasts for more than 5 years.
Different flowers react differently to the chemicals during the preservation process. That is why it is imperative that we receive your bouquet in its best form in the soonest time possible. But color change is inevitable as this is the result of the chemical reaction during the dehydration process.
Generally, white flowers turns cream, red becomes maroon/burgundy, light colored petals turns a shade darker. Blue, lavender and yellow flowers usually retain its hue. In our commitment to provide the best outcome for your bouquet, some flowers will be given post color treatment. However, we cannot guarantee that the color shade of the original bouquet will match that of the preserved one even after the color-enhancement. Furthermore, your flowers may take on an antique appearance, especially white flowers, over the years.
Your preserved bouquet will benefit a lot if you give it a little tender loving care. These tips will definitely help in making them last for years:
a. Don’t spray directly any glass cleaners to your frame. Instead, spray it on a clean cloth first and use it to remove any dirt, dust etc.
b. Keep it away from direct sunlight. Even though Purpleknot flowers were treated with UV protectant-sealer, keeping it from any form of heat will protect it from becoming brittle and from further having color changes. This also includes direct exposure to lamp light and any form of spotlight.
c. Keep your bouquet in cool, dry place, ideally in temperature not exceeding 27C.
d. Don’t display the bouquet in highly humid areas like carpeted rooms, the kitchen, the bathroom or your basement since preserved flowers may be at risk for insect infestation and molds. Purpleknot ensures that your flowers are treated accordingly and are mold and insect free before we deliver them to you.

“ While infestation occurs in less than 1%, even the cleanest of homes may not be free from Indian Meal Moths and Weevils that can eat up the petals and may damage the flowers beyond repair. These insects can be found in flour, peanuts, bird seed, dog food, breakfast cereals, candies, corn meal, etc . Once infested, it is irreparable so it is important to prevent it from happening by storing your preserved bouquet properly.”

Purpleknot is not responsible and liable from cases of molds and insect infestations.
We encourage that the only things to be included in the frame are the invitation and picture of the couple. This is to advocate simplicity, making the bouquet the focus of the design. But if you wish to include other memorabilia, it is still possible provided it will fit the standard size of the frame which is 12x15 inches. Otherwise, additional charges will be incurred as the frame size increases.
It is our desire that the client have a free hand in terms of the design of the finished product. However, if not clearly stated during our discussions pre-framing, Purpleknot will have the freedom in designing the final outcome where we deem most fit to the type of bouquet and the frame chosen by the client. Flower Preservation is an art and subject to different creative styles and interpretations. If the client, for any reason, is not happy with the outcome of her bouquet, we can correct any concerns as stipulated in our Terms and Conditions WITHIN THE 12 DAYS GRACE PERIOD. As with any changes and alterations post delivery, this would also account to possible additional charges for labor, materials and delivery costs.
Bouquets made up of Roses, Peonies, Calla lily, Baby’s breath, Chrysanthemum, Daffodils, Hydrangea, Lilac, Orchids, Sunflower, Birds of Paradise, Carnation usually are the best ones for preservations.
